In this instance, the couple on the far right has been used as the “pattern-breaker” to take the picture from good to best. In effect, the pattern-breaker has successfully:
a. accentuated the length of the bridge;
b. provided human currency to an ancient monument; and
c. introduced a visual stopper to inject freshness into a repetitive pattern
This picture bears testament to the fact that long bus rides need not be boring. In fact, keep your eyes wide open to photographic opportunities that ply highways and byways, looking out for pattern-breakers along vast stretches of landscape. Very often, these pattern-breakers appear when you least expect them. So, the next time you’re tempted to fall asleep while travelling on a long bus-ride, think again! Always keep the camera handy, locked and loaded to shoot. You’ll never know what you will open your eyes to!
